Moving to Spain- life in the fast lane

In the spring of 2024, we had just enjoyed the second full year living in our “forever house”- … has that ever happened to you? Just as you get it nearly perfect- you hear the realtor knocking on the door ( haha). No, seriously… The Lord was already starting to tell us to go look at Spain. To just GO THERE and see. Fall I said? No, Spring. SO.. we booked a trip for my birthday! I hadn’t been to Europe since I lived in Switzerland in the early 90’s! A life time ago! I was so excited to go to a place I had never been!

When we arrived in Madrid, hoisted our over-packed suitcases into the train car and found our seats… I knew we were in for treat. Traveling by train in Europe is a HUGE welcome relief after 15 hours of travel and layovers. The Spanish countryside is absolutely beautiful!! Gently rolling hills with olive farms for miles… sunflowers growing en mass, quaint old towns and the random castle or two. It was two hours of anticipation and more than one good Cafe con Leche ;-)

The first day out in Seville was honestly a bit underwhelming. We rented a car ( we always do.. we just like the autonomy of it) and tried to orient ourselves around town.. but because the best parts of town are in the barrios - beyond the main roadways… it just didn’t impress me much yet.
